7.15 Masquerade by KK & MR (Part II)

as retold by Maniac64 & PhantomChic

MR: We open in a lab. Computers and electronics everywhere, various scientists working. Lex walks in. "Dr. Zabriska?"
KK: Zabriska turns away from his computer. He's a squirrelly little man in a lab coat and not-quite Einstein hair that hasn't been combed in days. He has an Eastern European accent. "Lex, it's ready for testing."
MR: "Excellent. Prep the targets. I'll begin testing it tomorrow."
KK: "You will test it yourself?"
MR: "Of course."
KK: "Should we not have someone less…important do the initial testing. It could be dangerous."
MR: "You said it was ready to be tested and I will be testing it. Now is it ready or not?"
KK: "It's ready. We will prepare testing first thing tomorrow."
MR: "Good." And Lex sweeps out, leaving Zabriska looking nervous. Pan over behind him as we see the prototype: a robo-battlesuit made with alien technology.
TW: Kristin, I can't believe you gave him the battlesuit.
KK: It's his plotline.
MR: And Lex needed a new toy.
TW: You mean you did.
KK: We cut to Martha in her office. She's looking over her daily schedule and sees a meeting with Mutant Advocates. "When did this get on the schedule for tomorrow?"
MR: Her assistant says it was added late last night.
KK: Martha says she didn't realize Lucius was back in D.C.
MR: He says it's not with Lucius. It's with a delegation led by Titian. Martha looks concerned as we cut to the Daily Planet.
KK: And now back to the fun. Clark…
AoT: Are you saying my plots aren't fun?
KK: Not in this episode. Martha's all wrapped up in the arc-related subplot. Kind of a buzz kill. At least I assume so.
TW: Assume? It's your episode.
KK: Eh. The whole arc thing is Michael's deal. I'm just having fun. And right now that fun involves Clark bothering Lois at the Planet.
TW: Bothering?
KK: Playful banter about Lois making headlines. Clark name checks Chloe, says Lois is making her cousin proud.
MR: Lois says she's "protecting the world from aliens, one byline at a time. You should try it sometime."
KK: The phone rings before Clark can say anything about Lois's stories. When Lois picks up we hear a man's voice. "Ms. Lane, I have information that might interest you about the alien threat in your article. Are you interested?" Erica?
ED: "I'm listening."
KK: "Not over the phone. They could be listening."
ED: "The aliens?"
KK: "Come to Club Masque tonight at 9 and I'll give you my information."
MR: A delivery guy shows up and has Lois sign for a large package.
KK: "Do you have the package?"
ED: "It's here."
KK: "That will admit you to the private back room. That's where you'll find me. Come alone." He hangs up.
MR: Clark tells Lois she shouldn't go alone. Club Masque is dangerous, blah, blah, blah.
KK: Lois says she'll be fine. She opens the package and we get a glimpse of black leather inside.
ED: What kind of club is this?
KK: One that requires a costume.
TW: Why would it need a costume?
KK: Because it's fun. We cut to a man in a dark suit and trench coat hanging up the phone. This is Victor Sage, hopefully played by Jeffrey Combs. The camera pans down to see a table covered in surveillance photos from the last few episodes. We see shots of Clark, Lionel, Zach
MR: In the Radio Shack.
KK: Right. And Lucius. We zoom in on one of the close-ups of Lucius and use that to transition to a shot of Lucius. He's outside in a park.
MR: Titian approaches him, he's furious. He tells Lucius that his actions have lost them some of their best people.
KK: Lucius tells him it was necessary.
MR: "I'm starting to wonder what your priorities are. And I'm not the only one. It's time to stop letting Lionel Luthor yank us around. Martha Kent owes us and it's time we called in those markers."
KK: Lucius spews some dren about Martha's powerful allies…
MR: Kristin!
KK: Fine. John, you want to read?
JG: Certainly. "Martha Kent has powerful allies, allies that we do not want to make into our enemies."
MR: "We have more than enough power among our people to accomplish our aims without Lionel Luthor. And without the government if need be."
JG: "Kent has more than just Lionel Luthor on her side. She has allies behind the scenes, more powerful than any mutant."
MR: "If that were true, she wouldn't need us."
JG: "She needs us less than we need her. Something you should have recognized by now, Titan. I chose you because I saw great potential for leadership in you. But you have failed to learn to control your anger."
MR: "I've learned to draw strength from it, that's enough control."
JG: "You will never be ready to lead our Mutant community."
MR: "I'll lead them better than you have. I won't throw away their lives at Luthor and Kent's whim."
JG: "You're done, Titian. I'll find a new second."
MR: "You can try. I think you'll be surprised who our people choose to follow. I'm leading a contingent to your precious Senator this afternoon." Titian storms away leaving Lucius to stare after him and into the opening credits.
