7.10 Darkness by MR and TW (Part I)

Clark discovers a new enemy. Chloe finds herself dependent on Lex's goodwill.

[The cast is gathered in the writers’ room talking when KK enters with new hair-do. Everyone is in shock except AM who chuckles]
MR: Whoa…
JG: What the heck…
TW: Oh my…
AoT: What…
MR: WHOA!
ED: You cut your hair!
AM: Well that certainly makes me feel a little better.
AoT: But… I thought you loved your long shiny hair?
KK: Oh I still do. This is courtesy of the Supernatural hair department. It seems a certain Ms. Mack gave Mr. Kripke a call with some ideas for my character. [Everyone looks at AM who is smiling gleefully] Nice try with the pink hair by the way. There was no way I was going to let them get away with that.
AM: It was worth a try. Did they at least do the pink costume?
KK: Oh yeah. They’re going to advertise my character as the “Pink Menace”. And I’m no longer just the teaser. Kripke loved the idea so much he’s making it a full episode.
MR: The Pink Menace? Hah. That is so hilariously awesome.
KK: Yep, yet another way to kill off Lana this season. [Looking back to the smirking AM] Nice job Allison. You have been a worthy opponent.
AM: [AM is surprised but smiling] Why thank you Kristen.
JG: You know, you’re taking this whole thing awfully calmly Kristen. Is everything alright?
KK: Oh yeah. I was upset at first, but ever since I got the cut not one person has called me Lana, even when I’m in town. It’s been great!
AoT: So you aren’t going to grow it back out?
KK: Oh no, I’m growing it back. But in the meantime I’m going to enjoy being completely free of Lana Lang.
AM: Glad to hear there are no bad feelings.
KK: None at all. In fact, I’m actually going to be sad to see you go.
AM: Go? Haven’t you heard? Bryan decided not to fire me.
KK: What? He can’t do that. He’s already given your contract away.
AM: Don’t worry. He changed his mind and called NBC to tell him he wasn’t doing it.
KK: [looking sympathetic] Oh Allison. Were you there for the call?
AM: Well no. I left as he was making the call. But I’m sure he went through with it. I checked with him earlier and he told me he was going to keep calling until they listened.
KK: Oh man. I really hate to be the one to tell you this, but you’re still fired.
AM: [looking terrified] What do you mean? He said…
KK: Listen Allison. I talked to Bryan earlier today. He told me about how you helped convince him to call NBC. Call them about putting their shows back on iTunes. [Everybody looks stunned] That’s what he’s calling them about.
AM: [looking shocked] No… it can’t be.
MR: Oh man. That sucks.
TW: I told you to be sure Allison.
AM: I was. At least I thought I was.
AoT: Don’t worry. We’ll think of something.
ED: Yeah, and if not at least you’re going to a new show and not just being fired.
AM: Yeah, but who knows what crappy Sci-fi show it will be. What if it’s ECW?
AoT: Then I’ll teach you some moves and you’ll be fine.
KK: Wait. You mean you don’t know which show it is?
MR: Nope.
KK: That sucks. I’d bet on Flash Gordon, or maybe Painkiller Jane. And at least one appearance on Who Wants to Be a Superhero.
AM: [AM gets more miserable with each show KK names] Can we just not talk about this right now. Please.
TW: Yeah sure thing Allison. Let’s get started with the episode.
MR: With pleasure. After the previously we get a black screen with the words “3 Months Later”.
AoT: We’re doing a time jump?
TW: We had to have the jump to have the bill passed and Salvation ready to come out as well as having Chloe come back.
AM: Why did I tell you to write me back in?
TW: Sorry Allison.
MR: Anyway, We start the episode in an empty white room. Hassad is standing in front of a few of his men.
TW: “There is a great darkness in this planet’s future. If it is not prepared it will be destroyed.”
MR: The camera rotates to show Lex Hope and a group of PASs standing behind Hassad. “Does this mean you’ve found a way to stop Kal-el?”
TW: “No. At least not yet.
MR: “Well than I hope that you didn’t just want to meet with me to remind me of the danger. I already have most of my resources going towards the defense of this planet. We will be ready when your “darkness” comes.”
TW: Hassad smirks as he says “We’ll see”
MR: They have a stare off until Lex says “Now then. What did you really call me for?”
TW: Hassad begins by repeating the terms of their deal but the audio fades out as we see Kahloe walk into the shot and stand beside Lex, hand on his chest. Allison you want to read the part?
AM: No thank you.
TW: Uh. Okay then. I guess I’ll just do it. “He’s keeping something from us.”
MR: Lex nods.
TW: “It seems like more and more people know more than we do Lex. I hate when people know more than us.” Kahloe runs her finger around Lex’s chest. “I think it’s about time we change that.”
AM: Must we do all this?
MR: Yes. Lex whispers “What did you have in mind?” Hope looks at Lex confused.
TW: Whispering into Lex’s ear. “You know what who we need. He’s our closest link to Kal-el right now. He knows something, and we need to find out what.”
MR: We go to a flashback of Lex sitting behind his desk and Hope dropping a folder in front of him. “What’s this?”
TW: “That is something interesting that I found in your father’s desk.”
MR: Lex opens the folder and finds the pictures of the Kryptonian notebook that Hope took. Lex looks shocked. “He had these?”
TW: “Yes.”
MR: “How much does he know?” Lex looks at a photo on which the House of El symbol is inscribed. “Kal-el” is written at the top of the page.
MR: We cut back to present time where Lex now has an evil smile on his face.
TW: Hassad glances over. “Are you even listening?”
MR: “Don’t worry about me. Let’s just get this meeting over with. I have other matters that need attending too.”
TW: We cut to Lex and Hope leaving one of the 33.1 a labs. “What should we do about Mr. Hassad’s request?”
MR: Lex is obviously thinking about other things. “Hmm?”
TW: “His request to look over another Luthercorp factory for some more supplies?”
MR: “Let him do it. Just make it clear that he is not to take anything without my personal consent.” Lex opens a car door for hope.
TW: “Yes sir.” She starts to get in but then stops. Hope seems nervous about what she is about to say. “Excuse me sir, but…” She pauses to choose her words carefully. “You seemed rather…distracted during that meeting. Is there something wrong?”
MR: Lex smiles again. “Nothing at all Hope. I was simply thinking through what our next course of action should be.”
TW: “I see.” Hope is visibly relieved. “So what did you decide?”
MR: The music starts to build up and we zoom in on Lex as he says “We are going to pay a little visit to my father.”
TW: And hard cut to the opening credits.
JG: Well at least it sounds like I’m actually going to be doing something this episode.
MR: Oh you’ll be doing something alright. [JG looks suspicious]
