as retold by RepairmanBob
JG: Back at the jail, the blond woman from earlier walks up to Lex’s cell.
TW: Lex looks up. “I told the guard I didn’t want any more visitors. Just get out before I… wait, I know you.
JG: The blond smiles. “I am glad I made an impression, Mr. Luthor.”
AM: You brought back LexFan?
MR: Great, Lex loses Mercy, loses Bartlett and gets help from someone who is going to hit him over the head.
TW: “It is not everyday that a crazed college student attacks you and helps your rival win an election. Tell me, Ms. Drake, why are you not still in Belle Reve?”
JG: “It is amazing what the people will do you, if you ask nicely.” She gives Lex a sexy smile. ”As far as the rest of the world is concerned, Mr. Luthor, Samantha Drake was the victim of a tragic accident during her time at Belle Reve.”
TW: “So what do you want with me, Miss –“
JG: “You can call me Hope, Mr. Luthor. Hope for the future – under your guidance, of course.”
MR: I take it back! Lex has Hope! Yes!
KK: Glad someone around here has hope for this show.
TW: Lex answers in a sarcastic voice “Well, it is good that I have Hope, since I have nothing else. Exactly what do you want from me?”
JG: Hope comes up to the bars. “I want to help you, Mr. Luthor. I know you did not kill your wife.”
TW: “And how exactly do you know that? The police seem convinced, since I am being held here without bail.”
JG: Hope smiles. “If you had killed her, you would not have been so sloppy. You would have gotten away with it.”
TW: For the first time, Lex does not look annoyed with Hope.
JG: “Let me help you, Mr. Luthor.”
TW: Lionel’s office at LuthorCorp. Clark bursts in demanding answers about Lana.
AM: How did Clark never learn to use doors growing up?
AoT: I blame Jonathan. He never satisfied Martha sexually, and he never taught Clark how to enter a room like a gentleman.
TW: I resent that!
JG: Actually, I think it explains quite a lot. “Clark, I had nothing to do with Lana’s death. We have talked about this – Lana was helping me to get information about Lex’s projects, so we could stop him.”
KK: Which Clark, being a moron, has already forgotten.
TW: “You sure seem to be dealing with the grief well.”
JG: “I am trying the make the best of a tragedy. You must believe me, Clark.”
MR: Because you are so deeply, deeply gullible.
JG: “Lana’s death must not be in vain. I am doing everything in my power to ensure Lex is punished, which includes taking back LuthorCorp and stopping his illegal experiments.”
TW: Clark still looks unconvinced. “What do you know about Reeves Dam? Chloe and I have been investigating it, and there is a problem.” Clark explains the situation.
JG: Lionel is horrified. “I had no idea Lex was so callous. The risk if a reactor like that explodes… we must stop it.”
AoT: Why would Lionel care?
JG: How would it look for Martha is half her voters turned green or were vaporized?
AoT: Ah, I understand.
JG: Lionel goes to him computer, and sends Chloe everything her has on the Reeves Dam site, including a passage to the reactor that was not damaged in the Bizarro fight and instruction on how to shut down the reactor safely.
MR: Wait, why doesn’t Clark and Lionel to get the Martian Manhunter?
TW: He is still healing.
MR: How long does it take to heal? Kansas is about to get blown up!
TW: Michael, he got a piece ripped out of his side! It takes time to heal.
AM: Or an episode where Tom does not write Clark as so heroic.
JG: Hope poses as Lex's attorney, demands all evidence on the case.
AoT: How does she pull that off? Wouldn’t they ask for some kind of identification?
JG: Smallville police department.
AoT: Never mind.
JG: She talks to the lad detective, and finds out there is no DNA evidence in the car.
AM: But in the final, we saw –
TW: The stupid ice cream truck. The body was a dummy or something.
JG: There is no direct evidence linking Lex to the crime. Someone called 911 and said Lex killed his wife.
KK: I wish.
JG: The detective in charge of the case does let slip that someone is pressuring the department to keep Lex in jail. Hope demands their files on Lana, and under relatives sees -
KK: Pancaked parents?
JG: Father - Henry Small.
TW: Back to Reeves Dam. Chloe is working on her laptop, and Clark runs in, and dust flies everywhere.
JG: “I hope you found something, Clark, because I am fresh out of ideas.”
TW: “Try this. Lionel said we may have a back way into the dam.”
JG: Chloe checks the blueprints. “Clark, this looks like the real deal.” Chloe gets excited. “And look! A back-up data storage unit! This could have everything we need to put Lex away forever!”
TW: “It is too dangerous, Chloe. I am going in, shutting down the reactor, and getting out. Anyway, I thought you said Lex didn’t kill Lana.”
JG: “There are plenty of reasons Lex should spend the rest of his life as a guest of the state, Clark, and if he didn’t kill Lana his is going to be out soon. We need to stop him while we have the chance, Clark.”
KK: I’ll take hypocrisy for 100, Alex.
AoT: Situational ethics! I love it!
TW: “You need to stay here and worry about your stomach wound, Chloe.”
JG: “So you can go into a room filled with Green K all on your own? Sure, why don’t I get a drink while I wait for the explosion to kill me?”
MR: I wish I had a drink right now.
AM: Join the club.
TW: Clark looks annoyed. “Fine, let’s go.” Clark and Chloe go into the facility. The closer Clark gets to the reactor, the weaker he becomes.
JG: Martha and her CoS are talking about meeting to talk about bill she is interested in for loans to small farms in Kansas.
AoT: Finally!
JG: Lionel stops by to see how she is doing after Lois’s funeral.
AM: Wait, Lois had a funeral?
MR: Lionel flew to Washington? I thought he just met with Clark.
TW: Martha and her CoS are in Metropolis for Lionel’s funeral.
AM: Shouldn’t we show that?
JG: No! Erica screwed me and stole my show! I refuse to give her any screen time.
AM: (looks uncomfortable) Just asking.
JG: Lionel asks Martha if she was able to help hm with that small matter they had talked about.
TW: “Yes, I asked the prosecutors to keep Lex in jail while charges are pressed. Are you sure about this, Lionel? Lex is your own son.”
JG: “I know what Lex is capable of better than anyone, Martha. It saddens me, but he is a threat to Clark and everyone around him. After what he did to Lana, it is best for everyone if Lex is in jail.”
MR: Does Martha fall for that?
AoT: Well, she also dislikes Lex.
MR: Since when?
AoT: Since she wants to get into Lionel's pants.
